Polymeric coating systems produce a seamless, impenetrable barrier coat to protect concrete slabs and improve a floor’s performance characteristics.

Moisture present in the concrete slab, however, is capable of producing significant vapor pressure from underneath any “non-breathing” flooring system. This pressure can lead to coating failures such as blisters and/or peeling. As a result, moisture vapor emission testing is a standard checkpoint for all performance flooring installations.*

Addressing this important issue, Sika Industrial Flooring offers a selection of moisture vapor transmission products that are fully compatible with our decorative and industrial floor and coating systems.

MOISTURE TREATMENT

Sikafloor® FTP Moisture Resistant Primer
A three-component, 36% solids, waterborne-epoxy. As a green concrete primer, Sikafloor FTP will allow Sikafloor systems to be applied to properly designed green concrete inside the typical 28 day concrete curing window. This primer is specially formulated for superior penetration and adhesion to a green concrete slab. Primer application within eight (8) hours of pour eliminates the need for shotblasting of acceptably designed concrete. Sikafloor FTP seals the surface of the slab and can act as a concrete curing compound to improve the physical properties of the concrete by allowing proper hydration.

Sikafloor® Vapor Block Barrier System (Formerly Vapor Block)
A two-component, waterborne, vapor pressure reduction system. Sikafloor Vapor Block is designed to be a seamless vapor reducing system, and is intended to be over-coated with a Sikafloor concrete floor system.

Sikafloor® EPO-CEM® SYSTEMS
Solvent-free and odorless, epoxy-modified, cementitious self-leveling mortar. Specially formulated for leveling and structurally reprofiling on damp, “green” or saturated surface dry concrete slabs. Fast-curing, with high early strength.

* The standard moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) maximum is three (3) pounds per 1,000 square feet in a 24-hour time frame, as measured according to standardized tests.
