Valspar Flooring joins U.S. Green Building Council as product manufacturer member
JUNE, 2007 — Realizing the growing importance of green, sustainable building practices, Valspar Flooring, a division of Valspar Corporation (NYSE: VAL), today announced it has joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a product manufacturer member.
“As a USGBC member, Valspar will have a greater opportunity to play an active role in green building issues,” said Lysa Young, Marketing Manager, Valspar Flooring. “Valspar is extremely proud to be a USGBC member and of our continuing development of low VOC products. These are both active steps in the long-term preservation of our environment.”
USGBC's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
